PARENTS’CORNER
1. Parent-Teacher Organization
Parents play a major role in their child’s education, and they should be a part of a student’s learning experiences. It is important for educators to create a link between home and school. Making a link between home and school builds a strong foundation of trust that we will continue during the entire school year. The role of parents is vital and they should feel welcome as they take part in the learning community. School administrators, teachers, and school staff as a whole can support, encourage, and support parental involvement through newsletters, conferences, and the school’s website. In addition, schools can start school, family, and community partnerships through many comprehensive family-involvement programs. Parents could form a team by collaborating with teachers, administrators, students, other parents, and community members. The team members can bring their own perspectives, experiences, and skills for the school improvement.

Educational changes and reforms begin at home. Educators have to prepare and encourage parents to be engaged in their children’s education through workshops, important school events, and activities. Parental involvement in school implants an appreciation and love for education once they take part in their children’s learning, and tremendous and positive academic achievements follow. Education must go back to the basics, where families learn to understand the strong foundation needed for their child’s achievements. Once parents begin to value education themselves, students will improve academically. From home, they will bring to school positive attitudes towards learning, and good behavior to learn. Parents and the school community will
then ensure that they are part of all successful programs in their child’s organizational learning agenda.

The Parent-Teacher Organization at GOCA will meet four times a year. Its purpose is to advocate the education and well-being of every child attending the school. GOCA is extending this invitation to parents who will conduct fundraisers and sponsor numerous activities that directly improve and enhance their children’s school experience. All parents are encouraged to participate as they organize a committee.
